A basic and clean hostel. Very serene place and if you are on a budget it's fine. But they wifi is limited to the foyer/lounge and you must pay if you want it in your room. It's miles from anywhere as well so don't stay here if you want to see thee city centre. It's in the middle of a horrible industrial estate.

I've stayed 2 nights in a private room. The room was clean and so were the shared toilets. The guy in the reception was nice and helpful, not that I needed much, but he kept my bags in the last day until about 3pm. Not sure if he speaks english, as my attempt of spanish was enough to communicate. The location is great as it is very central. Not sure how to rate fun factor and atmosphere, I only wanted the room to rest at night, after sightseeing all day. For me the only proper down side of staying at this hostel was the lack of respect of the other guests, as some were quite noisy late at night/early morning, but obviously that as nothing to do with the hostel itself...

Silvia From Portugal On November 30, -0001

Highly recommended Hostal Martin it is good located in the centre of Madrid, in a very busy street near Puerta del Sol, Plaza Mayor, Atocha railway station and Paseo del Prado. Well served in transport (metro, bus, railway), as in small shops (ATM, pharmacy, mini market, telecommunications). The bakery next door is a real find. Besides breakfast it serves small meals like lasagnas, pastas and sandwiches. From the hall to the room corridors it is watched by cameras, which gave us a sense of security. The room and bathroom were small but very clean and nice, with TV, safe and heating. According to affordability we couldn’t ask for more. We had a quiet room in the back side, which made the stay very pleasant. One detail: the bath towels were a little small. The staff was cordial and attentive and provided a place to leave luggage. I will not hesitate in coming back.
